Family on an autumn walk

Welcome to the October 2026 edition of EMA Today, the quarterly e-newsletter from the East Midlands Alliance for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism for Alliance colleagues, stakeholders and the wider healthcare community.

In this issue, we highlight Lincolnshire Partnership's successful MEED Practitioner Pilot, strengthening care pathways and improving patient safety for people with eating disorders, plus an update on the transfer of specialist medium and low secure inpatient services to Northamptonshire Healthcare.

The Family Ambassador Service is expanding into CAMHS community services and we are delighted that Dr Sachin Sankar, Clinical Lead for the East Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative was invited to share our success with services for young people's mental health at Parliament last month.

Also in this edition, find out how Derbyshire Healthcare's Occupational Therapists are supporting mental health patients through nature activities, how a new digital tool from Leicestershire Partnership is helping prevent avoidable deaths in people with learning disabilities - and much more.

You can also watch Paul Sheldon, SRO for the East Midlands CAMHS and Adult Eating Disorder Collaboratives, take on our 60 Second Showcase.
