Welcome to the January 2026 edition of EMA Today, the quarterly e-newsletter from the East Midlands Alliance for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism for Alliance colleagues, stakeholders and the wider healthcare community.

In this issue, we bring you the latest updates, achievements and developments from across the East Midlands.

We are delighted to celebrate the national success of our CAMHS collaborative at  prestigious HSJ Awards, where it won Provider Collaboration of the Year. This recognition reflects the collaborative's impressive progress in improving community mental health services for young people across the East Midlands - driven by ambition and unwavering dedication.

We are also pleased to share news of significant developments in inpatient care. These include a brand new inpatient unit for children and young people in Northamptonshire, a new integrated ward for women at Nottinghamshire Healthcare's Arnold Lodge in Leicester, and the refurbishment of the Blossomwood site in Sutton in Ashfield, bringing together mental health wards for older people under one roof. Together, these additions mark our commitment to the continued expansion in high quality inpatient provision and to improve our specialist services across the region.

Also in this edition, we spotlight the latest updates from Health Innovation East Midlands and the IMPACT provider collaborative. You can also watch Chris Higgins, Chief Transformation Officer at Lincolnshire NHS Foundation Trust.
