Welcome to the April 2026 2026 edition of EMA Today, the quarterly e-newsletter from the East Midlands Alliance for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism for Alliance colleagues, stakeholders and the wider healthcare community.

In this issue, we bring you the latest updates, achievements and developments from across the East Midlands. This includes our CAMHS Collaborative taking a major step forward with two new day service sites opening in Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. The collaborative has also been named the regional winner in the Improving health outcomes category at the inaugural NHS Excellence Awards.

We're also proud to celebrate Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, who have been shortlisted for an HSJ Digital Award for their innovative Chat Mental Health text messaging platform.

Elsewhere in this edition, we bring you news of a programme to support safer use of psychotropic medicines for people with learning disabilities, along with a powerful patient-produced video from Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust on what restraint feels like.

You can also watch Vicky Ashton-Taylor, Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Delivery Officer at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, take on our 60 Second Showcase.
